Anxiety / Stress
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety often has a lot to do with what we imagine may happen, anxiety can cause us to jump to conclusions and create a world view all based on what we are imagining.
Anxiety seems to appear for no particular reason, in situations we find uncomfortable or completely at random. Anxiety can be influenced by self-expectations, self-criticism or an over emphasis on a perceived perfectistic lifestyle.
Anxiety and stress are caused by the nervous systems fight or flight response. This begins by the hormone cortisol which is produced in the adrenal glands. Adrenalin causes the physical symptoms often associated by stress and anxiety.
“Anxiety is the tension between now and later”
(Perls, 1976)
